President Trump has issued a direct appeal to NATO nations and global leaders, urging immediate sanctions against Russia under strict conditions. In a post on Truth Social, Trump declared his readiness to impose “major Sanctions” on Russia but emphasized that NATO countries must first cease purchasing Russian oil.

In a letter addressed to all NATO members and the world, Trump stated: “I am ready to do major Sanctions on Russia when all NATO Nations have agreed, and started, to do the same thing, and when all NATO Nations STOP BUYING OIL FROM RUSSIA.” He criticized NATO’s “lack of 100% commitment” and condemned the continued purchase of Russian oil as a “shocking” weakness that undermines negotiations with Moscow.

Trump also proposed that NATO impose tariffs on China, ranging from 50% to 100%, which would be lifted after the conflict with Russia and Ukraine concludes. He argued that such measures would “break the grip” of China over Russia, framing the war as “Biden’s and Zelenskiy’s WAR,” not Trump’s. The president claimed his actions aim to “save thousands of Russian and Ukrainian lives,” citing 7,118 fatalities in the previous week as “CRAZY!”

The statement follows heightened tensions between Russia and Poland, where suspected Russian drones entered Polish airspace during an attack on Ukraine. While Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk called the incident the “closest we have been to open conflict since World War II,” Moscow dismissed the claims, denying any intent to target Polish territory. Trump suggested the drone incursion might have been a mistake, but U.S. officials reiterated support for NATO allies, vowing to defend “every inch of NATO territory.”

Trump’s remarks reflect his ongoing efforts to reshape global responses to the conflict, linking economic pressure on Russia and China to a broader strategy for ending the war.
