The state of Florida has approved plans to allocate a property near downtown Miami for the construction of the Donald J. Trump Presidential Library. “I am extremely proud to announce a UNANIMOUS vote by the Florida Cabinet for the conveyance of land for the @realDonaldTrump Presidential Library which will be located in… MIAMI, FLORIDA! It will be the greatest Presidential Library ever built, honoring the greatest President our Nation has ever known,” Eric Trump stated.
The library’s proposed site is a parking lot adjacent to the historic Freedom Tower, which previously served as a processing center for Cuban refugees and recently underwent renovations. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis highlighted the partnership with Miami Dade College, while Attorney General James Uthmeier emphasized the strategic choice of Miami as a global hub. “President Trump has a great story to tell,” Uthmeier said.
The 2.6-acre site at the gateway to PortMiami was secured without public debate or development requirements, despite its estimated $67 million value. Developer Gregg Covin noted the land’s significance as one of Miami’s last prime skyscraper locations. The agreement mandates that work on “a Presidential library, museum, and/or center” commence within five years.
Miami Mayor Francis Suarez praised the decision, framing it as a step to elevate the city’s global stature. Meanwhile, DeSantis acknowledged Trump’s New York roots but argued Florida’s embrace of the library reflects its rising prominence. “We’re a state that’s on the rise,” he said.
