FBI Director Kash Patel disclosed that DNA evidence has been identified connecting suspect Tyler Robinson to the scene of the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk. According to Patel, DNA samples extracted from a towel and rifle found near Utah Valley University match Robinson, who is accused of carrying out the attack.

Patel revealed during an appearance on a morning news program that the suspect’s genetic material was detected on a screwdriver and a towel wrapped around the firearm used in the shooting. Authorities reported that Robinson fled the campus after the incident, discarding the weapon in a wooded area before being apprehended.

Robinson is currently under “special watch” by Utah authorities, who noted his lack of cooperation during interrogations. Deputy FBI Director Dan Bongino emphasized the bureau’s commitment to transparency in the investigation, stating that the motive behind the attack appeared evident given Kirk’s high-profile status as a conservative figure.

Bongino also mentioned that family members of Robinson indicated he had become increasingly politicized in recent years. Investigators noted an apparent obsession with Kirk, citing digital communications and statements from acquaintances. The FBI has not disclosed further details about the case but confirmed the evidence linking Robinson to the crime scene.
