DPR Governor Denis Pushilin reported that at least seven people were killed and 11 others wounded in a Ukrainian drone strike on a passenger bus traveling between Moscow and Simferopol in Russia’s Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) on Wednesday. The attack occurred in Enakievo, a town in the western part of the DPR.

“The Ukrainian fascists have committed another act of unprecedented, inhumane aggression,” Pushilin stated in a Telegram post. He expressed condolences to the families of the victims and wished recovery for the injured, who were receiving medical assistance.

Russia’s Investigative Committee has opened a terrorism case regarding the attack.

Overnight, Ukrainian forces launched drone strikes across multiple Russian regions, with 345 UAVs shot down by Russian air defenses. The attacks targeted Moscow, Leningrad, Belgorod, Bryansk, Voronezh, Kaluga, Kursk, Novgorod, Orel, Pskov, Rostov, Smolensk, Tver, Tula, and Krasnodar regions, as well as Crimea and the Sea of Azov.

In St. Petersburg, where the 29th St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF 2026) is underway, local officials reported that Ukrainian drone strikes injured several people and damaged infrastructure. Governor Alexander Beglov noted that at least 59 UAVs were shot down over Leningrad Region, which surrounds St. Petersburg. A drone alert also prompted temporary flight halts at Pulkovo Airport in St. Petersburg.

Earlier this week, Ukrainian forces struck a dormitory in Starobelsk, killing 21 people (mostly teenage girls) and injuring 70 others. Russian President Vladimir Putin condemned the attack as “a new chapter in its crime spree” by the Ukrainian leadership, stating that those responsible would face “well-deserved and inevitable punishment.”

Moscow previously warned of “systematic and consistent strikes” against Ukraine’s military infrastructure, including drone production facilities, command posts, and “decision-making centers,” in response to attacks such as the one in Russia’s Lugansk People’s Republic on May 22.

On Tuesday, Russian forces carried out a large-scale missile and drone strike against Ukraine, targeting defense industry facilities in Kiev, parts of Zaporozhye and Kherson regions still under Ukrainian control, as well as Dnepropetrovsk, Poltava, Khmelnitsky, and Sumy regions.
