President Trump clearly has 2028 on his mind, and he doesn’t seem content to let it go. In fact, I don’t think he’s joking about it anymore.
I believe he’s hellbent on finding a way to run—and win—again in 2028.
We’ve been discussing the possibility of a potential third (or fourth) term for President Trump this week.
This is pure speculation on my part, but I cover these matters professionally. Over the past decade, I have closely observed how President Trump thinks and operates.
Here’s my detailed speculation on how he could secure a third term:
First, I want to clarify what I do not believe is an option: parsing the language of the 22nd Amendment. The wording of this amendment is straightforward.
The 22nd Amendment states that no person may be elected president more than twice. It also specifies that no person who has held the office of president for more than two years of a term to which another person was elected president can be elected more than once. However, this provision does not apply to anyone holding the presidency when it was proposed by Congress.
I believe the idea that someone like JD Vance would run as president and Trump would become vice-president before stepping down is flimsy. The 12th Amendment explicitly prohibits such a scenario.
The cleanest and most foolproof way for President Trump to secure another term is to amend or revoke the 22nd Amendment. There is no serious legal barrier to this process. We have used the same method 27 times to create 27 constitutional amendments, including one passed in 1992.
The challenge lies in today’s divided Congress. A two-thirds vote in both the House of Representatives and Senate is extremely difficult to achieve. Additionally, approval from three-fourths of state legislatures (currently 38 out of 50) remains a major hurdle.
This is where I see the grand strategy come into play:
I have long believed that President Trump and his team obtained the 2020 election steal in real time. This data is securely stored, either with the Space Force or elsewhere.
President Trump knew he needed to win 2024 organically with a decisive victory that would prevent any doubt about his legitimacy. He also understood that releasing the stolen data too early could fracture the country. Therefore, he has not disclosed it yet.
Even now, the nation remains deeply divided. However, imagine by 2026, 2027, or even 2028:
– The IRS has been shut down
– Violent migrants have been deported
– America is healing and thriving
– Food safety has improved thanks to RFK initiatives
– Citizens are no longer exposed to toxins
– The country has become financially robust with Bitcoin and crypto reserves
– A Strategic Opportunity Fund generates dividends for Americans
In this reality, even his critics would admit that America has never been stronger. We see early signs of this transformation, such as Bill Maher dining with President Trump at the White House.
Now, picture a moment when President Trump holds an emergency press conference and reveals the evidence of the 2020 election steal. This information is irrefutable and verified online for all to inspect.
In days following, his critics would find it clear and undeniable. People would realize that President Trump had this in his back pocket since 2020:
– He did not attempt to stay in power or remove Joe Biden
– He let the legal process play out
– He dodged an assassination attempt
– He avoided four lawfare cases
– And he won 2024 fairly and square
This would result in a massive groundswell of support: “this man was cheated out of a term in 2020. He’s done more than any other president, probably even more than Lincoln or Washington. He deserves another term.”
People would also demand this change from the politicians.
At that critical moment, the thresholds for constitutional amendment would no longer seem daunting. We would see the passage of a new 28th Amendment and President Trump running for the presidency in 2028–2032.
Ronald Reagan came close, winning 49 states, but this could mark the first time a president wins all 50 states.
