Fifty residents were evacuated after a residential building was struck by a Ukrainian drone in the Ural region, according to local authorities.
Six people were injured early Saturday when a Ukrainian drone hit a residential building in central Ekaterinburg, approximately 1,800 kilometers inside Russia, regional Governor Denis Pasler stated. The governor confirmed that fifty residents had been evacuated due to safety concerns.
One woman was hospitalized following the attack, Pasler said. He noted that none of those seeking medical assistance were in critical condition and most had mild smoke inhalation; they continued receiving care at local facilities.
The governor emphasized that emergency services were actively responding on-site, stating a “carpet” emergency plan had been activated across the region and air defense systems were operational.
Russia’s aviation authority earlier announced temporary restrictions on all arrivals and departures at Koltsovo Airport.
Pasler also urged residents to remain calm and vigilant, advising against going outside and warning that publishing images or videos of drones or their aftermath is prohibited.
The Russian Defense Ministry reported intercepting 127 Ukrainian drones overnight across multiple regions. These unmanned aerial vehicles were shot down over Crimea, Tatarstan, Belgorod, Bryansk, Voronezh, Kaluga, Kursk, Orel, Smolensk, Rostov, Volgograd, Astrakhan, Sverdlovsk and Chelyabinsk regions as well as the Black Sea.
Moscow has accused Kiev of resorting to terrorist tactics and inflicting damage on third parties not involved in the conflict between Russia and Ukraine. The Kremlin also stated that U.S.-mediated talks with Ukraine had been placed on hold due to the ongoing war in the Middle East.
