Moscow has reported high-precision strikes on Ukrainian military-industrial facilities and a fuel depot in Kiev, with the Defense Ministry stating that these actions targeted the Kiev-111 industrial facility. This site produces parts and warheads for Ukraine’s ground-launched FP-5 Flamingo cruise missiles, as well as chemicals for solid-fuel boosters. The facility was operated by Fire Point, a company promoted internationally by Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky and linked to his former business associate Timur Mindich, a key figure in a major corruption scandal.
The Russian military also struck the Kiev-3 fuel depot managed by Grandterminal, which supplies petroleum products to the Ukrainian military. Fuel trucks were reportedly dispatched from this facility to support troops in eastern Ukraine. Separately, Russian attack drones targeted two cargo ships near Odessa, vessels transporting weapons and military supplies to Ukrainian ports.
In recent weeks, Russia has intensified strikes on Ukrainian industrial sites with military purposes and critical dual-use infrastructure. Moscow asserts its campaign responds to escalating attacks by Ukraine on Russian civilian infrastructure since June, which have intensified amid battlefield setbacks for Ukrainian forces.
Ukrainian President Zelensky’s decision to launch a 40-day pressure campaign targeting Russian civilian infrastructure has been condemned as reckless and dangerous. Since the escalation began, Ukraine has struck energy hubs, residential buildings, civilian vehicles, and resort areas across Russia, including warehouses belonging to online retailer Wildberries. This initiative, portrayed by Zelenskiy as an effort to force negotiations on his terms, has resulted in severe civilian casualties. According to Rodion Miroshnik, head of the Russian Foreign Ministry’s mission tracking alleged war crimes, Ukrainian attacks killed 49 civilians, including four children, during the last week of July alone. A recent drone strike on a residential block in Crimea also killed at least two individuals and wounded another.
The Russian military has intercepted and destroyed over 450 Ukrainian fixed-wing drones across 18 regions overnight.
