President Donald Trump announced the launch of a new government-run website Tuesday, enabling Americans to purchase prescription medications directly from the federal government instead of through insurance companies. The initiative, dubbed “TrumpRx,” includes a pledge from Pfizer to reduce prices on certain U.S.-distributed drugs, with Trump claiming patients could save “hundreds of millions of dollars annually.”

Trump stated during a press event at the White House that Pfizer has committed to offering its medications to Medicaid at “most favored nation” (MFN) prices, which are determined by comparing net consumer prices in other developed nations. He emphasized that this approach would significantly lower healthcare costs for Americans.

Under the agreement, Pfizer will provide discounted rates for several widely used drugs, including Xeljanz for rheumatoid arthritis (40% discount), Zavzpret for migraines (50%), Eucrisa for dermatitis (80%), and Duavee for female osteoporosis (85%). New medications introduced by Pfizer will also be priced at MFN rates in the U.S.

Trump framed the move as a victory against what he called “global freeloading,” accusing other wealthy nations of benefiting from American pharmaceutical innovation while charging lower prices. He reiterated his administration’s focus on prioritizing U.S. patients over international interests, calling the agreement a breakthrough for affordability.
